How To Buy Things

Recently I've decided that the best way to choose consumer goods is by using national stereotypes. Based on the success of this procedure, from now on I shall only buy umbrellas from England and cold weather gear from countries with significant land area above the Arctic Circle.

Other suggestions of where to get various products:

Sexy lingerie: France
Overly engineered automobiles: Germany
Miniaturized electronics: Japan
High calorie food items: America
Hockey goalies: Finland
Anarchist literature: 19th century Vienna
Tulips: 17th century Holland
Private islands: French Polynesia
Wine you'll hate: Greece
Herbal liquours with secret recipes: ancient monasteries
The Brooklyn Bridge: New York bars where old-timey con men hang out
